New update

It was quite long ago since I last wrote here. I'm terribly sorry. I have been busy with school, everyday projects and other things. So I have a long list of updates, but I'll shorten to the most important ones. Here we go...

After being rid of the last pest on my face (you can read more about it in my previous blog entries), another one showed up on my chin. Wonderful. It took a few weeks until it was gone too. I've been taking good care of my face by washing it and steadily consuming my Acne medicine. I feel that my face skin is looking better than it was before, so thinks my Mother and Grandmother too. That proves it.

However, my psoriasis has gotten worse. It's all over my body, as mentioned before, but it has also started to itch and irritate (aren't those two synonyms btw?), usually during evenings before I go to sleep. Worst itch and rash are on my stomach, hips, legs and arms. Additionally, I have dry hands, which I supply with emollient cream (AQUALAN®L) many times a day, and I have some kind of strange spots on my feet. Not sure if the skin there is dry as well or if it's an allergic reaction from the injection.

I met my dermatologist on Monday 24th this month and discussed about the usual. We had prepared for months taking another medication for my psoriasis. That day was my first time taking an injection (STELARA™) - it went quick and smoothly without any pain at all, which made me relieved. It hasn't been even a week yet since I got the shot, but so far I haven't got any bad side-effects. I hope I will be spared from those.

It should take about two weeks until I will notice any changes. Then it says that the psoriasis will be as good as gone on the 24th week. Not for good though, but for some time. It's expected that I'll be taking the injection regularly as recommended. But we'll see first how it works for me: how much it helps/gives positive results and if recognizable side-effects are shown. I just need to say that if it's severe side-effects that needs to be hospitalized then I'll be giving up the medication, and that's that.

More information about the medicine can be found in this link.

To be continued...

End of a newcomer

Remember that odd unidentified pest in my last post? Well, last Sunday it got a tiny hole so the content was emptied. Monday to tuesday this week it has become smaller and smaller. I still have it now, but it's more flat so it's not very annoying anymore. Perhaps a little red, but it'll be better after a couple of weeks, I guess. I also bought a face lotion and use it every morning and evening. Not sure how much it helps, it's only been two-and-a-half day. But it feels good anyhow. A little more problem is with my psoriasis: It seems that my medication will be rather delayed. Hmm...

Uninvited newcomer

I'm afraid my acne has gotten worse. I use to have Acne papulopostulosa but now I moved to the next stage Acne Vulgaris. I'm afraid I would have more severe acne, like cystic acne. I'm not sure because I haven't gotten this little uninvited newcomer identified.

-----------------------------------------------You can hardly miss it.

It could just be another papule or whatever they're called. It doesn't feel sore, but I can feel something funny is inside. I have a great urge to empty it on matter, but I know that would infect it even more. So I hardly touch it, except just "feeling" with my fingertip. It doesn't feel hard anymore now, so I guess it has calmed down.
It has also been redder, but I think the red has faded just a little by now. But boy, it really annoys me as it's clearly visible. -_- I don't have any good side of face now: My left has that darn pest, while my right, if seen from a particular angle, shows how the pest messes up the outline of my face. Bleh.

Luckily, it's not far until I'll start on my new way of life-style: No candy or soda, more exercise, be more outdoors and wash my face more often. Like one in the morning and one before I go to bed. Oh yes, then I need to buy a good face lotion. I don't think I ever used one before.

Do you use face or skin lotion? Any good lotion you recommend? Don't be afraid to leave a comment! ^_^

Start of something else

"And now for something completely different."
~ Monty Python

=*=

I decided to start with another Blog, I don't know exactly why. My brain has a mind of its own after Midnight, and instead of going to bed I just stay up thinking of silly and/or pointless ideas. But I don't think I'd regret of creating this Blog because this is what my life is about, too. It's not just dreams and great experiences, it's also the bitter side of life that I have to face every day, every week, every month, every year... Yes, I'm talking about my skin diseases.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, cats and dogs (although I didn't invite animals here)... let me introduce my diseases: Aside from my adorably annoying Aphasia and Asperger syndrome, I have Acne and Psoriasis as well.

Now, for you who are unfamiliar with Psoriasis (because by God, you must know what Acne is when you reach the teenage!), it's a skin disease which varies between individials. Now, I'm not like Wikipedia and I'd hate to copy/paste everything, so this is what I would express it:
They appear as red spots, pretty much like acne, except that they can get very dry until the surface becomes white and then they scale off the skin. They usually grow in armpits, on elbows (mine started there), knees, hands, arms, legs and feet. Then they spread all across your body, even on your face. (As if it wasn't already loaded with acne crap.) The spots can also get itchy when they get dry, but scratching isn't a good alternative. But what can you do? I wholeheartedly understand your urge to scratch it. Been there, done that. A lot.

Having psoriasis can get extremely heavy psychically and your self-esteem decreases. If you have it allover your body, like I do, then it's not fun or comfortable being at the beach or go to swimming pools because you're ashamed of your body. You can also get worried that people would see you as an infection and avoid contact in case it's contageous. Well, guess what. Psoriasis is not contageous! It's only inherited. BUT in some cases, possibly like mine, Psoriasis can appear even if it's not inherited. (Don't think I got an answer on HOW THEN? I'm wondering the same thing!)

So, except my body-covered Psoriasis, I have a Stage II Acne, called Acne Vulgaris in Latin. (Ain't I smart? Heh. Honestly, I studied the Wiki page just moments ago. *hrm* Blasted honesty.)

I might go on and on describing things, but this is what my Blog posts will be about:
My eternal struggles against my skin diseases, with medicine, skin lotions and other health care in my arsenal. Progresses, infos, medicications and "discoveries" will be written here.
I hope we'll avoid "discoveries": that's when something new and apparently bad appears on my skin that hasn't been there before.

Guest star is my dermatologist ("skin doctor").
Though she isn't personally here. I only write how the examination went after seeing the doctor.

I also apologize in advance for my moodswings and for my irony in some texts. These skin diseases do trigger moodswings. I hope you understand my situation as it's really pushing down my self-esteem. But still I will fight.

Are you in the same situation or know someone close to you who has the same skin disease(s)? Then please share your thoughts and comment! I promise won't bite. ;-)
